I haven't had time to even read LJ in months. It doesn't mean that I don't think of my friends that are here, I just don't have anything left at the end of the day...

I took on the Presidency role in my moms club, then we split from the international organization and reformed as an independent non-profit. Lots of work for my Board. It's safe to say that this is the closest I will get to the political arena. :) Our first official meeting is on Tuesday. From there, things will be much less hectic.

J has been working long-ass hours all summer. It sucks that he does such a good job that when he is promoted, the replacement cannot hope to perform at the level J did. It means that J has to keep picking up the pieces of those that don't listen to his advice. That is the long and the short of it.

Will is old enough to pester his sister. Kira needed to lose the afternoon nap before starting school, so we added her crankiness to the mix in August. She started all day kindergarten this week (can you believe it?) and did great! As a family, we've been watching a lot of anime this summer (Magic Knight: Rayearth, Evangelion, Angelic Layer). The first friend that Kira made is Asian. She came home on Thursday saying that she called her friend "Miss ...." in the same way the girls in MK: R refer to each other. Sort of cool!

In mid August, I had my appendix out. I was thinking a lot of Bryan. :) Mine was only starting to get inflamed though. Thankfully the surgery was the night of Holly's last final for the semester and she drove up to help with the kids.

Anyway, I'm finally writing because I am tired. Tired of not having any time for myself and for building friendships. My friends in the moms club are just casual friends-- we aren't fully open with each other and we are all lacking time and energy to focus on building friendships. J thought that things would get better with Kira in school, and it might. After all, I'm still recovering from surgery and this was a stressful first week. There will be time for rebuilding old friendships and building new ones soon. I'm hoping that sometime in the next few months, I'll really find more time for me, more time for my husband, and more time for those friends that are out there.

((hug)) It sounds as though you've been busy. Wow... I'm glad you were able to catch the appendix before it got as bad as Bryans.

Hopefully you will find time for yourself soon.

I miss you.

We miss the gatherings around board games the most. With just the two of us most of the time, there are limits.
I know that we are not the only ones with not enough time... *hugs*

I'm sorry to hear about your surgery. I wish you a speedy recovery!

It's good to see you post again. I hope you will find the time to do it more often. Not that I'm a good example of that either...

Claire's a big girl now. Have you see her lately?

Yes, I saw these adorable shots when I took a few minutes to read recent posts. Too cute!!!
Thank you for your recovery thoughts! It would go faster if my family would have given me more time to sleep. :)
Good luck with school!

Thanks! Back-to-School night tonight.

You can sleep when they go to college, I guess...

Everything Robin said, plus: it's the same for us. We have very little time for ourselves, which can frustrate and deplete us at times, as much as we love our daughter.

How did you know you needed surgery? Was the beginning inflammation painful enough that you went to a doctor?

Best wishes for everything, and thanks again for all your kindness.

Yes, I know that most parents don't have enough time.

I hadn't been feeling right for a couple weeks, with some lower quadrant pain. Finally, we were supposed to go camping and the pain became a constant pressure, then I got a fever and nausea. I decided I would just go to Holly's for the weekend and see the doctor the following week if I wasn't feeling better. After making the changes to my packing, my fever was back up. I decided it was silly to drive that far while I was sick, so I got a dr appointment and a babysitter. I knew that with the localized pain, fever, and nausea, that the appendicitis was the likely culprit. Dr did some testing, then I went right to the hospital. Timing was perfect because Holly was here for a week before going to NY. If I had waited to go to the dr, things could have been a lot worse.

It sounds like you guys are making everything work. We'll probably be in Portland sometime in October.

For example: I've been wanting to call you for weeks. You gave me your number weeks ago, and I have yet to call. I hope to do so soon, but now I need to find the number! I just hope I entered it into Outlook. If you are able to send it again, that will speed the process. I want to thank you for all you've done and give you some friendship, to make up for my neglect. I have been a poor friend of late.

No worries. I had to ask for montanamary's address at least 4 times before I finally sent a package (last week) that I had promised in June. Life, especially with kids, gets crazy and you just need to do 1 thing at a time. Unfortunately, the list of things that needs to get done keeps growing, no matter how hard or fast you work at it.
